Unit focus

The SIRIS Unit is focusing on two major activities:

• Operations: The maintenance and evolution of the Distributed Virtualized Infrastructure for Next-generation internet Experimentation (DiVINE) platform. DiVINE is designed to offer a cutting-edge facility to experiment Next Generation Internet (NGI) solutions involving multiple technologies (5G, SDN, NFV, edge & fog computing, IoT) in selected application scenarios.

•  Asset Valorization: Leveraging on the strong skills in software development of its team of highly experienced engineers, the SIRIS Unit is actively supporting CREATE-NET Research Units by fostering the impact of their most promising Proof-of-Concepts. As an example, our long-term collaboration with major network device manufacturer Cisco Systems laid the foundations for establishing a co-innovation lab whose aim is to develop the control plane for the next generation software-defined transport networks, at the backbone of the incoming 5G revolution.
