Job Description
The purpose of FBK’s Tenure Track program is to offer high level professionals the opportunity of pursuing a structured career path in order to become a tenured researcher contributing to the long-term strategy of the organization.
Within this framework, FBK CREATE-NET is looking for researcher in software-defined 5G systems for satellite networks. The successful applicant will contribute to the 5G Initiatives at CREATE-NET and will carry out systems research activities in the areas of Mobile Network Architectures, Network Orchestration and Virtualization, Mobile Edge Computing, and Demand Attentive Networking.
In addition to a relevant publication record in the wireless and mobile networking field (with a particular focus on virtualization of satellite systems and multi-domain network service orchestration), the successful application will be required to have deep knowledge of mobile communications networking with a specific focus on, experimentally driven research and network virtualisation.
The candidate is expected to:
Perform system research on software-defined 5G systems, network orchestration and virtualization, and mobile edge computing;
Be proactive in proposing new research lines and supervise Bachelor and Master students;
Support the team in the acquisition of new funding;
Support the team in the execution of existing research and industrial projects.
Required
M.S. Degree or equivalent, in Computer/Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields;
Research experience or track record in the field of virtualized satellite systems;
Research experience or track record in the field of SDN/NFV and Mobile Edge Computing;
Experience and working knowledge in cellular communication technologies (3GPP/ETSI);
Basic experience with the H2020 project workflow (deliverables preparation, conference calls, workpackage/task structure, etc.);
Experience with network and numerical simulators, e.g. Omnet++ and Matlab, in particular for the simulations of LTE systems for safety communications and handover management;
Creativity, flexibility, proactivity and goal orientation;
Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills;
Fluent in English and italian (both written and oral).
Employment
Type of contract: Tenure Track position leading to an FBK fourth Level Researcher (R4) permanent contract.
The maximum duration of the Tenure Track contract is 5 years (which may be reduced depending on the assessment by the Committee of the candidate’s capacities and skills). If the final assessment of the Tenure Track experience is positive, the selected candidate for the tenure track position will be offered a permanent R4 contract.
Gross annual salary: about € 33.300
