The objective of this project funded by PAT (Autonomous Province of Trento) in collaboration with Siemens ITS, University of Trento and FBK-IRST, was to perform experimentation on novel technologies (mainly based on Wireless Sensor Networks and Smart Cameras) for the monitoring and remote control of road tunnels. In particular the novel solutions should optimize the energy consumption (lighting and airing systems) as well as increase the road safety through improved videosurveillance systems and enhance maintenance systems to reduce operating costs.
