Roberto Riggio and Alexey Baraev were in Stockholm last week for the kick off meeting of the EIT Digital project ICARO-II. The projects aims at enabling better connectivity for air travellers allowing them to be always connected from the departure gate to the destination gate. The project will build on the results of the previous year further maturing prototypes into read0to-market solutions.


Francesco De Pellegrini, Chief scientist of the DISCO Unit at FBK CREATE-NET has recently been granted the coordination of the ROMA project.


Francesco De Pellegrinii and Daniele Santoro from the DIStributed Computing and InfOrmation Processing (DISCO) group together with Corentin Dupont from the OpenIoT group at CREATE-NET, participated to CloudCom 2016 conference which took place in Luxembourg from the 12th to 15th of December.


CREATE-NET has recently joined the Eclipse Foundation, the leading open source organization whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools, and runtimes for building, deploying, and managing software across the lifecycle.

"We are delighted to have CREATE-NET join the Eclipse Foundation, and we look forward to its valuable contributions to the community" Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation.


Raffaele Giaffreda, Chief IoT Scientist at OpenIoT group of CREATE-NET, will present the tutorial "Five Years of Research and Innovation Experience in IoT: Lessons Learnt DOs and DON'Ts" at the 2016 IEEE 3rd World Forum on Internet of Things .This event is designed to examine key critical innovations across technologies which will alter the research and application space of the future.


CREATE-NET's Managing Director, Elio Salavadori, will be giving the opening keynote speech at ONOS Build 2016 in Paris from November 2-4.

ONOS Build 2016 is the first large scale developer conference bringing together people from all over the world to share, learn, align, plan and hack together.

Elio will give an overwiew on SDN and he will focus on ONOS evolution over the past few years. He will also talk about CREATE-NET's activities in this sector and its collaboration with ONOS.


Roberto Doriguzzi Corin and Roberto Riggio, senior researchers of the Future Networks (FuN) group at CREATE-NET, will participate in CNSM 2016 event in Montreal (Canada) which will be held from the 31st of October till the 4th of November.The Conference on Network and Service Management (CNSM), will cover all aspects of the management of networks and services, pervasive systems, enterprises, and cloud computing environments.Doriguzzi will present a paper on management of SDN-based networks titled "Reusability of Software-Defined Networking Applications: A Runtime, Multi-Controller Approach"


Marco Savi, postdoc researcher of the Future Networks (FuN) research unit at FBK CREATE-NET, has been awarded with the Best Paper Award at the 8th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Resilient Networks Design and Modeling (RNDM), held in Halmstad, Sweden, from 13th to 15th September 2016.

The event organised by EC will bring together the experts and coordinators of ongoing and new EC-PCP Projects to discuss best practices and challenges on Pre-Commercial Procurement at European level

Estefania Coronado (UCLM - Spain), guest researcher @FBK CREATE-NET presents  "Programming Abstractions for Wireless Multicasting in Software-Defined Enterprise WLANs". The paper (co-authored with FUN Unit) has been accepted at IFIP/IEEE International Symposium on Integrated Network ManagementLisbon // Portugal // 8-12 May 2017.
