CREATE-NET joins the Eclipse Foundation
CREATE-NET has recently joined the Eclipse Foundation, the leading open source organization whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools, and runtimes for building, deploying, and managing software across the lifecycle.
"We are delighted to have CREATE-NET join the Eclipse Foundation, and we look forward to its valuable contributions to the community" Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation.
CREATE-NET has now the opportunity to network, learn and work with other organizations who are making strategic use of Open Source and will soon be involved in the curation and progress monitoring of open source IoT projects.
"CREATE-NET is delighted to be associate member of the Eclipse Foundation and to be leading an important open source IoT project like the Eclipse Agail" Elio Salvadori, Managing Director, said.
Eclipse Agail is a language-agnostic, modular software gateway framework for the Internet of Things with support for protocol interoperability, device and data management, IoT apps execution, and external Cloud communication. A framework both for developers who wish to quickly prototype IoT solutions but also for end users who want to easily customise their gateway based on their context and have full control of their data and devices.
Eclipse is a community for individuals and organizations who wish to collaborate on commercially-friendly open source software. Its projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle. The Eclipse Foundation is a not-for-profit, member supported corporation that hosts the Eclipse projects and helps cultivate both an open source community and an ecosystem of complementary products and services.
CREATE-NET (Center for REsearch And Telecommunication Experimentation for NETworked communities) was established in Trento (Italy) in 2003, with the objective of combining high-level research in the computer networks and telecommunications sectors with innovative experimental field work.
One of CREATE-NET’s main goal is to continue increasing the internal focus on research & innovation, leveraging on the developed know-how to stimulate the transfer of new technologies to the market.
